With Obsidian&#39;s long history of developing these types of games, Square Enix purchased the IP and it’s now become one of their brands.Is the story in Dungeon Siege 3 related to any of the past games in the franchise? Will there be any cameos?Feargus Urquhart: We want to make sure that we&#39;re also giving nods to the history and lore of Dungeon Siege. Since the game takes place over 100 years after the previous games, there won&#39;t be any cameos, but you will find descendants and several references to previous games.Will there be a multiplayer feature? If so, would it be co-op or competitive multiplayer?Feargus Urquhart: The core thing about Dungeon Siege that a lot of people really enjoy is co-op mutliplayer. You can visit a friend&#39;s house and simply press start to jump right in.What we&#39;re showing at E3 is the two-player co-op, but we&#39;ll be releasing information about more modes in the coming months.The Dungeon Siege franchise has historically catered to PC gamers. With the addition of a console release, what elements were affected in development?Feargus Urquhart: One of the things that PC action roleplaying games have that&#39;s hard to show on console is how you consider all of the loot that you have and figure out what you want to pick up. On PC, it&#39;s easy because you can simply hold alt down and click on what you want to pick up. Whenever there are items, you&#39;ll see text to describe attributes of the item such as &defense& or &fire& and also a colored value for the rarity of the item for efficient item management.Is it true that Dungeon Siege 3 is using Obsidian&#39;s proprietary Onyx engine?Feargus Urquhart: Yes, Dungeon Siege 3 is running Obsidian&#39;s Onyx engine, which has been made solely to run role-playing games.
